Parental Alienation Syndrome and Divorce

Parental Alienation Syndrome has been around for a while. However it has emerged in the media quite frequently lately.

Parental Alienation is when one parent alienates the other parent from his/her children, usually occurring in a divorce, but can be exercised while both parents living together.

The PAS is mainly carried out by women but men are known to be alienators too. Parental Alienation Syndrome is a psychological disorder that the courts are not really familiar with. Unfortunately, it goes unchecked in other psychological profiles.

Some solutions could be to begin more studies on Child custody disputes, and how the Judicial system works, treatment and solutions for the alienator, sharing parenting effectively, psychological treatment of children suffering and who have suffered from Parental Alienation Syndrome.

There has been some legal changes in PAS, but research is ongoing and needed if the areas of psychological trauma and effects treatment of Parental Alienation Syndrome, signs of Parental Alienation Syndrome, long term effects on children, false accusations of sexual abuse in Parental Alienation Situations, Divorce Conflicts, Post-Separation Conflicts and Parental Alienation Disorders.

One innovative strategy is bringing the Veteran face to face with their children via Veterans Virtual Visitation. This we have discovered is a tremendous help with Veterans who may experience PAS.
