Veterans Re-integration Returning Home

Thousands of U.S. military veterans who will return home from Afghanistan and Iraq wars will experience a "reentry" to normal life while dealing with the war experiences they had overseas. There lots of programs offering that will aid our Troops in a successful reentry.

Some of these are: Self-assessment, drug/alcohol aftercare, recreation therapy, self-esteem building, social skills, life skills training, social development, education skills/enrichment, employment skills training, volunteer services and spiritual development.
The $1 million Incarcerated Veterans' Transition pilot program of the US Department of Labor provides training and support services to help incarcerated veterans, who are within 18 months of release and are at risk of homelessness, to re-train and successfully re-enter the workforce.Learn More

Reentry tough for injured vets Commentary . . .

Back from the Battlefield,
Part II: Seamless Transition to Civilian Life(U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs-Committe Hearings April, 2005)

On July 11, 2003, the Secretary of Labor and the Secretary of Defense signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which directs the Departments to study and undertake activities of mutual interest that may expand recruitment, job search services, training, placement, licensing and certification, and other services for military personnel, veterans, and their families. Under the MOU, work has focused in three key areas Erecruitment, retention, and reentry. VETS, along with other key agencies in the Department of Labor, has fully participated in this collaboration, which has resulted in a wide array of new and/or enhanced strategies for serving these audiences.
