Military Veterans Housing Needs
The purpose of the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program is to provide services to assist in reintegrating homeless veterans into meaningful employment within the labor force and to stimulate the development of effective service delivery systems that will address the complex problems facing homeless veterans. The legislation would also allow the Labor Department to fund facilities and they have sponsored legislation to allow the Veterans Affairs and Labor departments to make special grants to homeless veterans with children, including for transitional housing.
In many cases, Veterans may become homeless for a short period. The difference between this temporary homelessness and a chronic problem is often due to early intervention programs. So far, these programs have not always lived up to our expectations.
Let's face it housing affordability is an ongoing problem with everyone.
But Veterans experience a bigger dilemna affording home or even find housing.
Some of our Veterans have been homeless for years, undergoing problems of mental illnesses, disabilities, alcoholism, addictions, etc.,
It's just doesn't make sense that our Veterans should not be afforded housing no matter what the condition. These are people who disrupted their lives, and some lost their lives for the wars. There should be no HOMELESS Veteran, period.
